in Derby in May 2006 only 6 months after it was first registered and with 5000 miles on the clock. The previous owner was a woman who apparently could not keep up payments on the car loan. The car was immaculate the day I purchased it and I have endeavoured to keep it that way since. The car has been very rarely used to commute to work and driven with the upmost care on every journey, avoiding pot holes, and even hanging back from cars ahead on roads where stone damage could occur. It has covered very low mileage for its age, only 47,707miles which is mainly on the motorway. At 70mph extra urban you can expect to get the 42.6mpg as originally advertised in the Celica brochure, but the published combined 33.6mpg I think is a bit pessimistic as I always averaged closer to 35mpg combined. On a car like this the buyer should want to know if it has been driven hard and often. On occasion I have driven this car the way it should be, however being a technical enthusiast trying to look after his pride and joy I would say that I have only pushed the engine once it was at full operating temperature and never when cold. If you are keen enough to buy the car and not just interested in kicking the tyres then I will take you out for a test drive and show that this car has not lost any power at all since leaving the factory. The engine is designed and built by Yamaha using high-revving bike technology which allows it to rev to 8200rpm. The best feature about this engine is that it is optimised to use 95RON fuel whereas the Type-R engines out there have to use the more expensive 98RON premium fuel to get the same effect. That said this is not my ‘fun Sunday drive car’, as I have a Caterham for that. I regularly (every 15,000 miles) redex’d the fuel system, and the car has a full Toyota service history. The car has done 14 miles since its last full Toyota service (4/5/12) at 47,697 (the distance driving it back from the Toyota garage) and is currently sat immaculately cleaned and polished under an all-weather car cover ready to be picked up. Inside the seats are back and grey ‘alcantara’, which is essentially half leather, half suede type material which have been treated with leather treatment to keep it supple. I have used extra foot well mats to protect the original mats which still look new. Simple details, like there are no scratches around the key hole on the steering column or door handles, which all add up to make one very nice looking car, as you can see from the photos. | As you can tell I’m a fanatic for my Celica GT and sad to see it go, but not without the good news that we have a second baby on the way and I need to finance a people carrier. That said, no cats, dogs or kids have ever been in this car, only once or twice have sub-6foot adults been in the back. The road tax runs out at the end of June (30/6/12) this year, so hurry up if you want a test drive! MOT is valid until (28/12/12).
